Raipur – Capital of Chattisgarh

Raipur (nickname: raipore city) is the capital of the newly formed state of Chhattisgarh, carved out of Madhya Pradesh on 1^st November 2000. The city believed to be founded in the 14^th Century AD by the Kalchuri king Ram Chandra is centrally located in Chattisgarh. Raipur is the biggest city of the region and a fast developing important industrial centre. The city lying on the Mumbai-Nagpur-Hawrah mainline, is well connected by airand rail and is a good base to visit the tourist centers of the region. Chhattisgarh is one of the fastest growing states of India with its rich mineral, forest, natural and local resources.
